Deep Himeji Stories: Linda, Jon & Kids Discover Castle, Myochin Sword Smith Workshop!

We had the pleasure of welcoming Linda, Jon Clark, and their children 🏡 to Himeji.

Together, we explored Himeji Castle 🏯, where I shared stories of its history, strength, and timeless beauty. Afterward, we enjoyed a delicious lunch at Cabbage, savoring both okonomiyaki and steak 🍴🔥.

The highlight came in the afternoon when we visited the workshop of the renowned Myochin Swordsmith family ⚔️, whose lineage dates back over 1,000 years. After a fascinating lecture on how tamahagane (traditional steel) is transformed into a blade, we entered the forge to witness the intense sword-making process firsthand 🔥👀.

Even more thrilling, the family had the rare chance to take part in the forging process themselves, guided by the master. The experience ended on a high note when the swordsmith graciously gifted them a piece of tamahagane, a treasure to remember the day by 🎁.

It truly became an unforgettable memory for the whole family ❤️.
