Deep Himeji Stories: John & Robert Explore Himeji Castle, Sushiro, and Sunakawa Lacquerware

We had the pleasure of welcoming John and Robert from Chicago 🇺🇸 to Himeji.

🏯 At Himeji Castle, we explored its rich history, strategic layout, unique architectural techniques, and the beauty of its stone walls.

🍣 At their request, we enjoyed a casual yet delicious sushi lunch at Sushiro, one of Japan’s most popular conveyor-belt sushi chains.

🎎 In the afternoon, we visited the Sunakawa Lacquerware Studio 🎨, where Mr. Sunakawa himself explained the art of lacquerware, its connection to Himeji’s festival floats, and the intricate process of lacquer application. This direct exchange with a master artisan offered John and Robert a truly precious and unforgettable experience. ✨
