Deep Himeji Stories: The McCall Family Returns After 15 Years

We had the pleasure of welcoming back the McCall family 👨‍👩‍👧, returning to Himeji after 15 years. Mr. McCall once lived here as an ALT (Assistant Language Teacher), and this time he came with his lovely family to rediscover the city.

The day began at the iconic World Heritage Site, Himeji Castle 🏯. Despite the humid summer heat, the refreshing breeze flowing through the castle made the visit pleasant, and the family enjoyed exploring the magnificent keep together.

Next stop was Nekobus Tei for lunch 🍴, where they were amazed by the size of the modern-yaki‼️ After filling up on delicious local food, we visited Himeji Nishi High School 🏫. The family enjoyed experiencing the atmosphere of a Japanese classroom firsthand.

Of course, dessert time followed—because there’s always room for sweets 🍦. Everyone indulged in crepes, and then tried out a fun purikura photo booth 📸, capturing wonderful family memories with big smiles 😀.

It was their first time back in Himeji in 15 years, and the day was filled with both fond memories and exciting new experiences. We are so happy the McCall family could reconnect with Himeji and make it part of their story once again 💖.
